Our Canvas (Fantasy World RP)

Canvas, the world where art is power. Canvas is a world governed by multiple gods, and each god presides over a different form of art. Each god is represented by a sigil, and the sigils of the gods grant power to those who bear them.

The gods of Canvas are as follows:

Corien, who presides over the origin of all art. A benevolent deity whose followers worship her in a temple of solid gold located in the capital city. Her sigil is that of the Phoenix, representing that art is eternal.

Beris, who presides over the art of Masonry. He is a god of few words, and the patron of stonemasons and carpenters. His followers dwell in temples built into the mountains, sturdy and natural. His sigil is that of the Golem, a mighty being of stone, representing the protectors.

Yoze, who presides over the art of the Assassin. Ruthless and cunning, he is the patron of assassins and mercenaries. Yoze's followers build temples in the noxious swamps, where few mortals dare venture. His sigil is that of the Suzumebachi (Sparrow Wasp), representing the relentless drive to kill all who oppose him.

Akrei, who presides over the art of Pyromancy. Even-tempered and kind to mortals, she watches over the lives of her followers very closely. Her followers build their temples at the bases of volcanoes, to be closer to magma, which they believe is Akrei's blood. Her sigil is that of the Salamander, a reptilian beast most commonly associated with fire and magma.

Nyrei, who presides over the art of Aquamancy. Belligerent and cruel to most mortals, he frequently scolds (and occasionally scalds) his followers for even the tiniest of mistakes. His followers have their temples on the shores of Canvas, though Nyrei wanted them underwater, but mortals can't breath underwater.  His sigil is that of the Leviathan, a powerful sea creature who has plagued the nightmares of sailors since the dawn of time.

Kimara, who presides over the art of warfare. Hotheaded and always carrying a weapon, she is the patron of soldiers and berserkers. Her followers create temples of bones, performing rituals to grant them victory in the wars to come. Her sigil is that of the Dragon, an animal commonly associated with war and glory in Canvas.

Oryn, who presides over the art of the hunt. Analytical and perceptive, he governs over the hunters, trappers, and beast tamers of the world. His followers build temples deep in the forests, connecting themselves to nature. His sigil is that of the Stag, a common symbol of hunters all across Canvas.

Corvus, who presides over life and death. Silent and ever present, the followers of Corvus believe that life and death are forms of art. The followers of Corvus do not have temples, however, they reside in cemeteries most frequently. Corvus has no gender, it's sigil is that of a White Raven, an animal associated with death, though it's white coloration implies life as well.

Each god has special servants, known as acolytes, these beings are often inhuman constructs who guard their temples.

Acolytes of Corien: Gold Falcons that are often perched atop the temple in the capital.

Acolytes of Beris: Golems of stone that patrol the temple grounds.

Acolytes of Yoze: Giant Red-shelled hornets that wander the swamps.

Acolytes of Akrei: Armored figures with bodies made of flame.

Acolytes of Nyrei: Amorphous beings made of water, most commonly seen as snakes.

Acolytes of Kimara: Armored warriors with Dragon steeds.

Acolytes of Oryn: Archers made of wood who live within the trees.

Acolytes of Corvus: Hooded men with bird like talons on their feet and hands, their eyes often have an eerie blue glow to them. They wander the graveyards at night.

Sigil Chosen: People are chosen by the gods to spread their influence, those chosen are marked with a sigil from birth, this sigil is always on the back of the person's right hand.

Ansen hummed to himself as he played with a lighter, flicking it open and closed with a bored gaze.

Desmond polished his swords, going over them with a fresh handkerchief and meticulously going over every inch of it.

Thalia cleaned her blades and adjusted the mechanisms inside, before slinging the blades across her back and walking out of her home and out into the capital city.

(Ahh sorry, cat was making me clean the litter box XD)

Absent sighed and stood up with a grunt. "Hm..time to start something...." He absent-mindedly began to splash the water in the fountain behind him.

Desmond smirked, pleased with his now clean blades as he stepped outside and breathed in a deep breath. "Ah, Thalia. How's it going?"

(Thalia's not from Yoze's group)

Amaranth emerged from the hideout and saw Desmond, smiling.

Thalia looked at Desmond and blinked. "Well enough, I suppose." She said, her wolf-like ears flicking.

(Whoops, sorry XD )

Desmond nodded, turning around to se Amaranth. "So I see you're finally awake." He said with a small smile.

Ansen walked away from the city centre, a trail of flames behind him.

Amaranth smirked. "I guess I'm just lazy today." She said, looking at a board outside for some job postings for the assassins. "No new jobs..."

Desmond shook his head, a grin on his face. "Oh? Yeah, that's strange. I guess it's you're lucky day, we're free today." He stood just barely behind her, hesitating before gently picking a leaf out of Amaranth's hair.

Ansen smirked as he approached the two. Seems like they're a rowdy bunch. Assassins, by the looks of it.

Amaranth laughed softly. "Good, I've been meaning to get some R&R after that job from last week." She said, stretching her arms.

Desmond looked at Amaranth with a soft gaze. "Hm..is that so? Care for a relaxing walk in the woods?"

Ansen grinned and shoved Desmond from behind, pushing him into Amaranth. "Sorry, didn't see ya there."

Desmond fell to the ground silently, turning around and staring at Amaranth apologetically. He stood up and dusted himself off, shaking his head. "I was this close to killing you, be a little more careful next time."

Amaranth narrowed her eyes at Ansen, before looking back at Desmond and smiling. "Sure, I'd like to go to the woods."

Ansen whistled, looking at Desmond in surprise. "YOU are going into the woods....with her? Heh, she must be blind."

Desmond smirked and shook his head. "You haven't changed a bit, brat."

Amaranth rolled her eyes and spat at Ansen, then playfully stuck out her tongue at the pyromancer.

Thalia went out to the Steelwoods to train, seeing the trees that had been turned to metal by nearby volcanoes.

Ansen stuck his tounge back, crossing his arms with a huff.

Desmond chuckled and shook his head. "See? This is why you don't have friends, you're annoying, kid."

Ansen rolled his eyes and put an arm around Amaranth. "Kid?! As if, and besides, we all know I'm the one Amaranth is totally crushing on, she can't resist this hotness."

Desmond nearly fell over, too busy laughing to actually get mad.

Amaranth narrowed her eyes and held one of her scythes against Ansen's throat. "One more move and you'll lose your head, lover boy."

Ansen gulped and froze, giving Amaranth a weak smile. "I-I was just joking, ya see? Even Desmond's laughing!"

Desmond surpressed a giggle before gently patting Amaranth's shoulder. "Ha, give him a break, he clearly learned his lesson."

Amaranth sheathed her scythes and turned away from Ansen with a huff. "Hotheaded pyromancers.." She mumbled.

Desmond hugged Amaranth, not really realizing he did. "See, that wasn't so hard, now was it?"

Ansen grunted and turned his head away from Amaranth. "Hmph. Some girls don't know what's good for em."

Amaranth shot a glare at Desmond. "You wanna lose your head too?" She retorted with a smirk.

Desmond fell backwards in surprise. "Eh?! Oh no! I was-You wouldn't do that to me, would you?!"

Ansen smirked and sighed, shaking his head. "You two should drop the act and just go out already."

Amaranth sneered at Ansen. "Don't push your luck, you're still in range for a decapitation." She joked.

Ansen smiled nervously and rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, well, I like where my head is now. Attached to my neck and body."

Desmond shot an embarrassed glare at Ansen, choosing to sit on the ground instead of getting up. "So..any real reason you're here?"

Ansen nodded, looking like he suddenly remembered something. "Oh yeah! I saw another assassin in the city centre, and it seemed like he was looking for you so I came to warn you."

Amaranth blinked. "Another assassin? What did this person look like?"
